Honour and Dishonour

2 Timothy 2:20

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

The first thing that struck my heart here is 'the great house'

The great house is a house filled with diverse of gifts, a great house is a house where each an everyone has a specific duty, function or obligation(s) as the case may be.

The bible says in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver. This means there are specific functions each individual fits into.

CATEGORIES OF VESSELS IN A GREAT HOUSE

1. Vessels of Gold

2. Vessels of Silver

3. Vessels of Wood

4. Vessels of Earth

N.B

Whichever category you may find yourself know that, its given to you according to your capacity. 

Dear vessels of Earth never try to replace the vessel of wood. Oh you are made of wood, do not envy the vessel of silver, vessel of gold do not look down on the other vessels as if they are nought.

Now to the issue, being a vessel made of wood doesn't make you a vessel unto dishonour and being made of gold doesn't mean you are made unto honour. You are the major determinant, you may choose to be an honourable vessel or a dishonored vessel. Its all in your hands.

How to become an honourable vessel.

The bible say in 2 Timothy 2:15 that

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

1. STUDY: Study the word of God meditate in it day and night (Joshua 1:8). How much are you studying His word. This is not just a baseless study, its a study that has target. The Bible says study to be approved unto God not unto man and that's the target, a study approved by God himself.

2. BE A WORKMAN: Do you work for God at all? Is your service to God from your heart? Are you presenting yourself as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable? Work for God in this year and I assure you that you will not regret it.

3. BE A DIVIDER OF THE WORD: That which God has shown unto you, that truth you are holding start dividing it. Give it to the sick, to the poor, to the weak, to the Strong, to the unbelievers even unto those that believes that Jesus is Lord. Divide the word among them.

4. OTHER WAYS TO BECOME A VESSEL MADE UNTO HONOUR

2 TIMOTHY 2:22-25

_22. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.__23. But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.__24. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,__25. In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;_

Finally, whatever God gives unto you know that it's the least you can do. God will never give you what you can not do. Our God is a business oriented God, he is awaiting profit

Matthew 25:14-21

14:For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

15:And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; *to every man according to his several ability;* and straightway took his journey.

16:Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

17:And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18:But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.

19:After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20:And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21:His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: *thou hast been faithful over a few things*, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

N.B

In verse 15, the master shared the talent according to their capacities

In verse 21, the master said to the one with five talents that he is faithful over a little not much

Everything God has given unto you, he is expecting increase, work  yourself this year
