STANDING OUT FOR CHRIST

I Kings 22:6-8

[6]Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, “Shall I go against Ramoth Gilead to fight, or shall I refrain?” So they said, “Go up, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.”

[7]And Jehoshaphat said, “Is there not still a prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of Him?”

[8]So the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is still one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the Lord; but I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” And Jehoshaphat said, “Let not the king say such things!”

What does standing out mean?

To stand out means:

• To be exceptional: Exceptional in this context means exclusion. Standing in a place which differ from others.
• To be noteworthy: This means to be notable, deserving attention or worthy of notice.

Standing out is also synonymous to the word OUTSTANDING which means prominent or noticeable; standing out from others.

There is a saying that "one with God is majority" King Ahab (the king of Israel) gathered about four hundred prophets to prophesy whether to go or not to go to battle against Ramothgilead. All these prophets said "Go up for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king" with unity and confidence. But prophet Micaiah the son of Imlah, a true prophet of God gave a contrary answer.

These makes him to be different amidst them all(the other prophets).

Majority may not be always right

How do we stand out as a Christian in this World?

• Do not conform to the world.
• Don't be afraid of the aftermath of standing for Christ.
• Do not be afraid of telling the truth always.
• Allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you.
• Submit your totality to Jesus.
• Put on the whole armour of God.          Ephesians 6:11-18 

Where do I stand out?

We must be know that we are children of light in any place we find ourselves and always endeavouring to shine the LIGHT. The bible says “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden" Matthew 5:14

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven". Matthew 5:16

N.B

Let people see Christ in you in the school, at home, in the office, market, your work place, in your actions and reactions, in everything you do.

1. The result for standing out is never a palatable one. I Kings 22:27-28

[27]and say, ‘Thus says the king: “Put this fellow in prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and water of affliction, until I come in peace.

[28]But Micaiah said, “If you ever return in peace, the Lord has not spoken by me.” And he said, “Take heed, all you people!” Ahab Dies in Battle

Prophet Micaiah knew the consequences of saying the truth but yet he stood. Are you also standing for Christ or you are already conforming to the world? The word of God says "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
