The Power of your Faith 1

Acts 14:8-11; Acts 3:1-7; Hebrews 11:1

Biblical definition of faith?
The bible says "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1

This means without faith there won't be any reasonable breakthrough, miracle or success one can attain or achieve.

Let's take a look at an instance from the book of Acts 14:8-10

[8]And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked.

[9]This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed,

[10]said with a loud voice, “Stand up straight on your feet!” And he leaped and walked.

This means Our faith in God has power to draw down his (God's)power. Before our faith can work for us we have to know the right applications of faith.

The right application of faith (Acts 3:1-7)

  • Be at the right place
Acts 3:2
"And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple;"

The only place one can receive his/her miracle or experience God's power is to be is in his (God's) presence. This man was always there, he never get tired or weary both in good times and bad he was persistent and focused.

  • Do not lose focus
Acts 3:5
"So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them".

Looking unto God is very essential in our day to day activities. Nowadays people tend to look unto natural and material things. The bible says " he fixed his eyes on them". Who or what are you fixing your eyes on? Material things or God?

  • Be Expectant
Acts 3:5
"So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them".

Always be expectant for God's miracle, do not give up, do not grow weary or tired. The bible says “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?" Numbers 23:19

  • Do not be discouraged
Acts 3:6
"Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”

When you look unto God for something and do not receive it do not be discouraged because it is for a greater good. God gives us the needful. What we want sometimes may not be what we really need. For instance a primary school student praying to God to provide a car for him/her. One of the reasons why we do not receive answer to our prayers is because we ask amiss. The bible says "You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures." James 4:3

  • Be ready to receive from God
Acts 3:7
"And he took him by the right hand and lifted him"

Always be ready to receive God's miracle, believe he (God's) is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us."

NOTE

  • Your faith is a powerful tool of bringing down God's miracle upon oneself.
  • Let your Faith work for you.
  • Have faith in God and stand firm in him.
